Wow! What a great turnout and what beautiful weather we had for the event this weekend! Thank you so much to everyone who made the 1st Annual Peoria Superhero 5K and Kids’ Villain Chase Possible. Without our volunteers and sponsors we never could have had such an amazing event.

Race Day Information

The event is less than a week away! Below is some important information about race packet pick-up, registration and more. Also, we are still in need of race day volunteers. If you or someone you know would like to volunteer, or if you have any questions, please contact Brittany Frye at 309-693-4128. See all of you superheroes soon!

 

 

Race Packet Pickup & Registration

You can pick up your packet on Friday or the day of the race at the times listed below. Adults can check in with a photo ID.

Friday, October 10th (3-6pm) at Advanced Technology Services, 8201 N. University

Saturday, October 11th starting at 12pm at the CEFCU Center Stage Area

Race Day Schedule

12:00 Registration opens

12:30 Best Dressed Group Costume Contest Judging at Registration Table

1:00 Adult 5K – The start and finish of the race is next to the CEFCU Center Stage. The race is a loop along the riverfront (see map below).

2:00 Kids Chase Heat 1 (4 and younger), followed by Kids Chase Heat 2 (ages 5 & 6), followed by Kids’ Chase Heat 3 (ages 7+). The Kids Chase will take place in the large grassy field between the Gateway Building and the RiverPlex.

Costume Contest

Don’t forget to dress up as your favorite superhero! There will be prizes for Best Dressed Adult Superhero, Best Dressed Kid Superhero and Best Dressed Superhero Group. Everyone is automatically entered into the Adult and Kid Costume Contest. Judges will be walking around from 12 to 2:30 and will notify you if you are a finalist. Finalist should be at the awards ceremony at 2:45 to accept their prize. There will be two adult winners and three kid (10 years old and under) winners.

To enter the Best Dressed Superhero Group contest, please be at the Registration Table at 12:30 to have your group photo taken. The winning group will be announced at the awards ceremony. A representative from your group by be present to claim your prize.

Tips and Tricks

  • Bring cash to the event if you’d like to sample some of the food vendors.
  • Pets are welcome at the event! Just be sure to clean up after your furry friends and keep them on a leash.
  • Walkers, strollers and pets should stay to the back of the 5K group at all times.
  • Park across Water Street in CAT parking lot (most convenient and free on the weekends).

babysuperheroOnly two weeks until the Peoria Superhero 5K and Kids’ Villain Chase! We are so excited! There are currently about 300 people signed up to participate! Wow!

We are in need of volunteers to help on race day. Volunteers will help at water stations, direct runners along the route, set-up and tear-down and more! babysuperheroWe are so excited about all the interest in the Peoria Superhero 5K and Kids’ Villain Chase! It’s only June and we already have over 700 Facebook fans! Wow! This is certainly going to be one for the record books! Here are some of the questions we’ve been getting regarding the event. If these FAQs don’t answer your question, please don’t hesitate to contact us and we will get back to you right away. Thank you for already making this event a huge success! We can’t wait to see all of you superheroes!

What does the family of 4 pack include? The family of 4 pack is simply a ticket special that includes any four tickets of your choice. You can pick what combination of tickets you’d like. For example, choose to get two Superhero 5K tickets and two Kids’ Villain Chase tickets, or, three Superhero 5K tickets and one Kids’ Villain Chase ticket. It’s up to you! The family of 4 packet discount will expire on September 1st.

My child wants to run in the 5K with me, what ticket should I get him/her? To participate in the 5K he or she must have a 5K ticket. If your child would like a superhero cape instead of the 5K t-shirt, please contact us.

Will the 5K be timed? You can purchase chip timing for an additional $1. Add this to your cart when you register. If you have already purchased a ticket and did not include chip timing, you can purchase this separately. Just make sure to include the same name on the chip timing order so we can match this to your ticket order.

Can groups register as a team? Yes! In registration, you can create a group or join a group. If you are the group creator you can choose to make the group password protected or open to anyone who wants to join. If you create or join a group, you get the special group discounted rate of $15/ticket until September 1st. There will be a prize for the best dressed group!

Can I volunteer at the event? Yes! We would love for you to join us! Call 309-693-4128 for more information and to sign up.

Can I get a Peoria Superhero 5K t-shirt if I’m not participating in the race? If we have left over t-shirts we will be selling them the day of the event.

Do you still need event sponsors? Yes! We would love more event sponsors. If your company or organization is interested in sponsoring, please contact us at 309-693-4128. All event sponsors get free tickets to participate and lots of other perks!

What is your weather policy? The Peoria Superhero 5K and Kids’ Villain Chase is a rain or shine event! After all, superheroes have to use their superpowers rain or shine!

 

About the Superhero 5K and Kids’ Villain Chase

We will “run, walk or fly” along the beautiful Peoria Riverfront in our best superhero costumes! Everyone is invited to participate in the 5K and for those 10 years old and younger, help us catch the bad guy by running in our Villain Chase – a half mile trek to capture the villain!
